St. Chrysostom’s (St. Chrys as we call ourselves) began in
1978 as a parish formed by former Episcopalians who were
concerned about the direction of the Episcopal Church
U.S.A. (ECUSA). For several years they met in a
lawyer’s office and then in a Greek Orthodox Church.
In 1984 they moved to their current unique location at 504
Trivista in a building that was transformed from a
whetstone factory.
Through several transitions, Mrs.
Katherine States, who served faithfully as Senior Warden
for several years, helped to keep the parish
together. In 2005 the new classroom building was
named in honor of her.
In 2002 St. Chrys’ elected to
become a part of the Reformed Episcopal Church (REC) and
called Fr. Charles Erlandson as their rector.
